Boss psychology. Everybody has to interact with Boss at work place. There will
be one BOSS for every professional at work place. What position you held at
profession life does not matter, there will be some BOSS at the work place. So

Sometimes your BOSS will give good marks to female or
handicapped workers to show that he/she is extra generous and progressive. But
total number of post is fixed, so you may not get what you want.
Your BOSS will also try to make a balance in team and
he/she may not allow to progress everybody. He will also have fear that there
are many employee under him at higher post then his command will not have that wattage and he/she may be questioned.
BOSS generally want very few middle-level employee. BOSS
will generally prefer many low level employee working under him/her. This will
give your BOSS much more control on team. Due to this reason your BOSS may do
politics and he/she will stop to progress you.
Sometimes your BOSS may also have fear that he/she may
not get promotion and so he/she will not allow you to get promoted. This is a
natural human behavior. Your BOSS may be
indulged in getting illegal financial benefits. So your BOSS will favor
employee who is aligned to his/her mentality. This may cause your BOSS to
discriminate you and favor others.
Human nature favor regionalism. So your BOSS may favor
the person from his/her region. Sometimes educational background also matters.
If someone is from his/her college then it is natural to favor that person.
Your BOSS may have some pre-occupied mind against you. This
may be due to various reason. He/she may have got some information against you
that your BOSS does not like.
